Roraima Trekking Tour 6d/5n

Roraima - trekking tour to the lost world . . .

This is a climb to the table mountains, to the Roraima massif. Known locally as ‘the fertile mother of streams’, this rocky landscape is the source of the brooks that later flow into the Rio Orinoco, Amazonas or Esequibo rivers. The picturesque massif is the result of millions of years of erosion and this tour is your chance to see it.

Day 1
Transfer to San Francisco de Yuruanu in the Gran Sabana, before taking a jeep to the Indian settlement of Perei-Tepuy. Then you will take a four to five hour walking tour across the Sabana, including fording brooks, before reaching the Río Tek camp. Overnight in tents. (-/L/D)

Day 2
Hike through savannas and jungle to the base camp at the bottom of the table mountain. Overnight in tents. (B/L/D)

Day 3
Over three and a half hours, hike to the top of the plateau, for a chance to see strange and exotic plants, as well as rocks and unusual geologic formations. Overnight in tents below a rocky projection, which we call ‘El Hotel’. (B/L/D)

Day 4
In the morning we hike to the top of Punto Triple, the meeting point of three countries: Venezuela, Brazil and Guayana. Then we visit the labyrinth and different small bozos with water, where you can have a wonderful cold swim, if you like. After that we walk to the abysm from where you have a panoramic view from the top of Roraima over the Gran Sabana.
Back to the camp and overnight in tents below a rocky projection. (B/L/D)

Day 5
After breakfast, we descend and hike back to the Rio Tek camp. Overnight in tent close to the river. (B/L/D)

Day 6
Walk back to Perai-Tepuy, before we drive back to San Francisco de Yuruanu and Santa Elena.

What you should take with you?
SLEEPING-BAG!!!, hiking boots, sun hat, sun screen, short and long trousers, two shirts, insect repellent, raincoat, flashlight, swimsuit, sandals, towels and one pullover!
